Feelin’ “Pretty Good” About My Makeup

Most fashionistas know and understand that part of having a complete outfit involves hair and makeup. I’d like to focus on makeup for this blog because it is something that I have had challenges with in the past.

I’ll just be honest, I am no makeup artist. My talent really extends only to outfitting. When I was younger I had no idea what eyeliner, blush, foundation, etc. were used for, nor did I really care. However, in more recent years past, I realized that makeup did have a use for me. I could use it to balance my skin tone and enhance my features. I really did not want to go over board for myself so I found a happy medium with very neutral tones.

One of my favorite makeup tools that I have found extremely handy for the past couple of years is my 3-1 stick from “Pretty This ‘N’ Pretty That”. This stick is awesome! Already going along with my fashionista theme of being versatile, this stick is eye shadow, blush, and a lip stick base! I love it because it provides me the lightest hint of shimmer without going over board. It takes up minimal space in my purse so I can literally carry it anywhere for touching up and it works well with my delicate skin. When I wake up in the morning and put it on, it’s wonderful as an eye brightener to keep me looking fresh.

Just so you can see how minimal I am when it comes to makeup, I have provided photos of the three most used products in my makeup bag; foundation, mascara, and of course my “Pretty Good” make up stick. I use this stick as much as I Google and trust me that is saying a lot lol!

This is not the only product Pretty This ‘N’ Pretty That sells, there are beautiful eye shadows as well as other 3-1 Sticks. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed: Pretty This 'N' Pretty That

I Heart Animal Print

I heart animal print because....

It can be neutral

Or not....

 It can be a skirt

 Or a top....

It can be a bangle

Or a belt

Either way...
It makes my heart melt.
The point I make
Is simply this
I heart Animal Print!

p.s. I made that poem up all by myself ;)...Happy Monday!

What Does The Scarf Say?

Money talks...and so do scarves apparently. Get the inside conversation (from left to right)

1. Flannel: I take myself too seriously to be the ironic outdoors-woman; however I would take up lumber jacking as a hobby.

2. Subtle Bling: I’m kind of trying to look 28 today. I am tired of being carded at the movies.

3. Chunky Knit: I’m freezing, but at least my neck is warm. Hope I don’t fall asleep and suffocate under this scarf; that would be a sad story.

4. Monochromatic Tan: I’m really trying to “blend in”. Let’s just pray this tone doesn’t match up so close to my skin that I look like an iguana.

5. Nappy Tweed: I didn’t do my hair so I am praying this scarf takes the focus off my head.

Happy Monday :D

Prints Are Personal

My mom purchased this Karen Kane as a gift after seeing me try it on in Dillard's and deeming it "so me".

A wise woman once told me “prints are personal” and that they truly are. They speak volumes about our boldness and comfort level within our own personal style. I find myself at times pushing the limits and appealing to those exaggerated, edgy patterns now that I am in my latter 20s. Whereas before I was nothing but a solids gal, tip toeing around the chance at adventurous fashion.

Sometimes it is worth it to dive right in and take the risk, and other times it’s ok to pass the plate and gently fold the fashion deck. So how do you know which pattern is for you? How do you realize if you’ve gone too far? How do you balance beam between looking stylish and looking overwhelming?

Here are some tips:

1. Know thyself-Patterns can hide and reveal, they can invite and shun, be sure to know your body type and what you are trying to say with your look

2. Pick colors that compliment-By that I mean compliment each other and your natural skin tone, hair color, and mood. If you mean to be bold, go hot red, if you mean to be pure try an ivory or white; there are too many colors to not be adventurous.

3. Don’t over try-Patterns can be mixed with other patterns (hard, but doable); but when in doubt, keep it simple. You must allow yourself and others an eye break. Don’t do so much pattern and then kick it up a notch with over the top shoes and accessories. Minimize those and maximize your pattern

Give some of these tips a whirl and you will find yourself enthralled with patterns in no time!

Chevron Much?

What is it about repetitively stacked pointy arrows that gets me going? Inspiration and the unavoidable quirkiness in design. Here I have found some fun Chevron Print items that I have decided to add to my collection of ever expanding accessories. Just thought I would share for sharing's sake ;)

Looks Like a Michael Kors, Priced Like a Steal!

My most recent find was this lovely Merona boyfriend style watch from Target. I like watches, and after accidentally cracking the face of my previous wrist companion on a table corner, I have been on the lookout for something unique, bold, and well...me! I've always admired the look of Michael Kors style watches but I am not such a huge fan of the $200+ price tag. And if you are like me, sometimes when you damage something that didn't cost much the first place, it is difficult to go into round two considering an even more significant purchase in relation to cost. (RIP Claiborne watch from JCP, I shall always miss you)

That's when I so happened to run across this baby (pictured above). As soon as I saw it, I knew it going to be hard for me to leave it just sitting there for the next person to buy. The color is a gorgeous mixture of deep bronze, espresso, and black, it has weight to it, it is perfect for layering bracelets (also exampled above), and to top it off, it was only $20!

Great finds like these don't come around very often so I am raving about my good fortune. Now off to the store to find some more layering accessories :)!
